Model STA-60-10-P1 is a motorized programmable rotary vane attenuator for use in millimeter wave systems in a standard frequency band from 75 to 110 GHz. The interface is IEEE-488 (Parallel) to accommodate remote programming operations. Design features include local and remote operation capabilities for the attenuation range of 0 to 60 dB. Attenuation increments are 0.05 dB between 0 dB and 20.0 dB and 0.1 dB between 20 dB and 60 dB. A local adjustment switch and digital readout located on the front panel allow for convenient manual mode operations. The local switch can be locked out to prevent tampering or inadvertent adjustments while in the remote mode. The motor controller and interface circuits are custom designed and uniquely packaged within the attenuator housing. The custom microprocessor based electronics ramp the speed of a precision stepper motor to insure fast accurate positioning.
